The Garden Party will include delectable treats created especially for the ArtCentre by Central Market, entertainment provided by talented local performing arts groups, an enticing raffle and a beautiful art exhibition. Hostesses are invited to set and decorate with table settings and other items of their choice.

Threads of Our Lives Opening Reception
Please join us at the opening reception of Threads of Our Lives, an exhibition of 44 artists representing The Dallas Handweavers & Spinners Guild, The Dallas Area Fiber Artists, and The Fort Worth Weavers Guild.
The Art of Greek Wine
We're continuing our series of wine-tastings with a journey into wines from Greece. Enjoy an evening with Stephen Roussos, Greek wine importer, R & R Selections, and taste his compelling and captivating Greek wines. Stephen aims to help customers learn about the Greek varietals and how to pronounce them. You will learn about one of the world’s most ancient and enchanting wine regions and history as well as taste Greek wines from master winemakers. Light refreshments from Central Market will also be served.
Plano ISD AP art program student exhibition award presentation
This annual exhibition showcases the culmination of student artistic growth throughout the art program within Plano Independent School District.
ArtCentre Executive Director Suzy Jones, says, “The Plano ISD Advanced Placement Art exhibition is always one of our most popular. The students create outstanding pieces that would make a statement in any quality art collection.” She adds, "The ArtCentre and Plano ISD are extremely grateful to Texas Health Plano for it generous support of this exhibition."

Honoring Women's History Month, the ArtCentre of Plano will feature Sarah Carson, internationally recognized photographer. Carson's exhibition will be held at both the ArtCentre of Plano and the Courtyard Theater. The Dallas-based photographer has produced a large body of work in both black/white and color. She also has a collection of black/white images that have been over-painted with oil. Carson’s photographs range from Texas Rodeo and Red Canyonlands to New York Cityscapes, to English Castles, to an Italian Horse Race, to the marvel of Petra, and to Eastern Europe when it was still part of the Soviet Union. Carson photographs chairs and trees as singular photographical subjects, and throughout all of her work finds a special connection to people.

David is a Plano based artist who uses a camera to gather the raw material for his creative images. Selected by the ArtCentre of Plano as its 2018 Artist of The Year, he continues to grow and explore new techniques of expression utilizing a colorful style and unique perspectives on the world around him. Also, a passionate educator, David leads workshops around the country and speaks to photography groups about The Artist Within.
Whether gathering his raw data in the wild, on the streets, or even in his backyard, he looks for content that present life in memorable fashion. His new coffee table book, A Voice Expressed, is a collection of his images representing the first ten years of his photography journey.

James Gilbreath Lunch & Learn
Born and raised in Texas, James’ love of art began in elementary school. Throughout public school he took every art class that was available and there weren’t that many in the fifties and sixties. In the fall semester of high school, 1965, at the age of 16, he finally had a chance to take art classes, where he was introduced to oil painting and his love of art grew to a whole new level. From that point to this he has always had paints, brushes and an easel and has produced paintings in each of those 58 years. He is a member of Plano Art Association and Artists Round Texas. He is also a member of the McKinney Plein Air Society. His studio is in The Rail Station Studios in downtown Plano, www.railstationstudios.com

Watercolor Meditation
Watercolor Meditation with Volta Voloshin-Smith
Price: $45, seating is limited. Purchase tickets
This workshop is an introduction to watercolors through a series of fun, easy and relaxing exercises. The guests will get an introduction to basic watercolor techniques as well as a series of watercolor meditations, or exercises, that combine colors and breathing for a meditative experience.
During this workshop experience, attendees will enjoy a guided, visual and immersive meditation by combining watercolor techniques and breathing exercises. The workshop will focus on harnessing the power of mindfulness, releasing stress and tapping into creative flow by engaging in a series of intentional mark making.
This experience can be enjoyed by anyone and prior art experience is not necessary to feel the healing benefits of relaxing with watercolors.
What to expect:
5 minute guided meditation to kickstart the workshop and get into a creative flow
Introduction to basic watercolor techniques
Watercolor meditations - a series of soothing creative exercises that combine mark making and breathwork
Wrap up with a few minutes and ask participants to share their artworks

About Artist:
Volta is a watercolor illustration and animation artist. Aside from creating fun and vibrant animations for brands, she also enjoys sharing her passion for watercolors with everyone through beginner friendly and super approachable workshops and tutorials. She has taught thousands of students online and in person.

Join the ArtCentre of Plano in celebrating Dr. Suess' birthday and Read Across America Week at a very special event designed to encourage reading through art. The event will be held at the ArtCentre of Plano, 902 E. 16th St., Plano, and will include music, family literacy activities, free food, free books, and book readings for everyone to enjoy.
Attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite storybook character.
Special Guest Pat Thomas, member of the Plano Wildcat's 1971 championship winning football team, Texas A&M All American, and 1976-82 LA Rams All Pro Cornerback will read his favorite Dr. Suess book. A surprise guest will also join in reading a favorite book. The Plano Public Library's Bubble Bus will participate in the Art of Reading event
