JumpStart for Arts is targeted primarily at under-served youth in Plano and the surrounding community and serves as an important and enriching source of summer programming.

Arts and arts education play a pivotal role in shaping the holistic development of young students.

The arts help our students succeed in school and beyond. Students involved in the arts are:

  • Low-income students who are highly engaged in the arts are twice as likely to graduate college as their peers with no arts education.

  • Low-income students who are highly engaged in the arts are more likely than their peers with low arts involvement to obtain gainful employment.

  • Low socioeconomic status students with high arts involvement are 37 percent more likely to earn a Bachelors degree vs. 17% of their low arts involvement peers.

  • 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement

  • 4 times more likely to participate in a math and science fair

  • Average almost 100 points better on their SAT scores for students who have taken four years of arts and music classes than students who take only one-half year or less.
