Regional Advocacy Liasion - Collin and Denton Counties

Previous honorees include Jeri Chambers, Senior Officer, Donor Relations, Collin County, Communities Foundation of Texas, and Julie Holmer, Plano City Council member.

Kelley has a long history of community involvement, with an intense focus on public schools. She currently serves as a Regional Director of Raise Your Hand Texas.

Before joining Raise Your Hand Texas, Kelley’s advocacy journey began when her first child began kindergarten in Plano ISD. When Kelley was asked to be a room mom and then a Destination Imagination Team Manager, she was hooked on finding ways for every child to reach their full potential. That desire led to her involvement with the Parent Teachers Association, first on the campus level and then at the district level. There probably isn’t a role Kelley hasn’t taken on, including leading the district as Plano ISD’s Council of PTAs President from 2018-2020. Through this involvement, Kelley was nominated by her superintendent and received the 2020 State Board of Education Heroes for Children Award for SBOE District 12.

With her last child ready to graduate in 2021, Kelley began looking for new opportunities to participate at a higher level in state advocacy. In September 2020, she began her Texas PTA career as VP Membership and VP Leadership, where she currently serves today. Kelley has received three Texas PTA Honorary Life Memberships, a Texas PTA Extended Service Award, and two National PTA Life Achievement awards and is a 2016 graduate of Texas PTA’s Emerging Leaders Academy.

Outside of PTA, Kelley’s leadership roles have included serving as Leadership Plano Board Chair, Destination Imagination NeXT Region Rising Stars Challenge Master, Junior League of Collin County Public Advocacy Chair and Community Ambassador, and as a member of the Plano Education Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Kelley recently graduated from the Plano ISD Leadership and Ambassador program Class 2, and believes there is always something new to learn, especially in leadership development and advocacy.
