Amy Lewis Hofland

Sr. Director of the Crow Museum of Asian Art at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD)

Currently, Amy is the Sr. Director of the Crow Museum of Asian Art at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). The internationally acclaimed museum, which grew from the collection of Margaret and Trammell Crow, is now the fourth largest Asian art museum in the U.S. She leads the curatorial vision and growth for a public institution celebrating the diverse contributions of Asia internationally through a program of permanent collection and visiting exhibitions. Among her accomplishments, Amy has expanded the museum footprint to a 60,000 square foot building on the campus of UTD scheduled to open in 2024. She also established an international brand for the museum of award-winning educational programs and publications.

Previously, Amy established the Crow Museum as the major center for Asian arts and culture in the Southwest. In 2019 when the museum was acquired by UTD, Amy worked with the Foundation leadership and the UT system in designing the complex structure of the multi-million donation transitioning the museum from private ownership into the public trust.

In over two decades with the museum, Amy led the organization through three major expansions in the downtown Dallas Arts District with the museum reaching an annual attendance of over 100,000 visitors. She also increased the donor base beyond the Crow family and drove intentional diversity of Board leadership and giving. Through this strategic work, Amy developed key relationships with donors that resulted in the acquisition of 600 works of art. She was also instrumental in establishing the Crow Museum as a force for community outreach and intercultural education.

Amy received a BFA in Visual Arts Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in Art Education with a Certificate in Museum Studies & Technology from the University of North Texas where she was part of the distinguished Marcus Fellow program. Amy is a noted author, speaker, and community leader serving on various Boards in the Dallas/Ft. Worth community. She is also a champion of the growth and development of the 118-acre Dallas Arts District.
